This cider glazed baked holiday ham is the perfect recipe to ring in a happy new year: An apple cider glaze gives this ham a sweet, irresistible exterior. Slice it up and serve with your favorite sides (maybe Southern new year traditions like collard greens, black-eyed peas, and cornbread) and save a few slices for sandwiches the next day.

Ingredients (serves 6 people):

  • apples, cored and cut into thick slices

  • 1 Large ham

  • 4 Cup apple cider, divided

  • 1/4 Cup bourbon

  • 1/4 Cup Dijon mustard

  • 1/4 Cup honey or maple syrup

  • 1/2 Teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 Teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1 Pinch ground nutmeg or allspice

Steps:

  1. When ready to cook, set Traeger temperature to 325℉ and preheat, lid closed for 15 minutes.
  2. Line a roasting pan with heavy-duty foil for easier clean-up.
  3. Arrange the apple slices in the bottom of the roasting pan for a natural roasting rack. Place ham on top of the apple slices and pour remaining 1 cup of apple cider around the ham.
    INGREDIENTS

  4. Place roasting pan directly on grill grate and bake for 1-1/2 hours.
  5. For the glaze, combine remaining 3 cups of apple cider and bourbon in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Simmer until reduced by one-third. Whisk in the mustard, honey, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.
    INGREDIENTS
    4 Cup apple cider, divided
    1/4 Cup bourbon
    1/4 Cup Dijon mustard
    1/4 Cup honey or maple syrup
    1/2 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 Teaspoon ground cloves
    1 Pinch ground nutmeg or allspice
  6. Glaze ham with apple cider mixture as needed (use any left over for serving) and continue cooking for another 30 minutes or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the meat reaches an internal temperatures of 140℉.
  7. Remove ham from grill and allow to rest for 20 minutes before serving.
  8. Warm remaining sauce and serve with ham if desired. Enjoy your Cider Glazed Baked Holiday Ham!
